Monumental Venues

Courtyard of Villafranca Castle

The Castle-Palace of the Marquises of Villafranca is not a mere monumental location or a rented space; it represents an incalculable legacy. Transmitted in an uninterrupted family heritage since the 15th century, it was the residence of the brilliant pianist Marita Caro, mother of Pedro Halffter, and currently constitutes the private residence of the director and composer himself. By crossing its doors, the spectator enters the intimacy of our home, transforming the fortress into an active emotional participant.

Under a captivating and dim twilight illumination, the courtyard (patio de armas) hosts evening concerts at 9:30 PM. The attendees, far from being mere spectators, become privileged guests in the family bosom, eliminating the traditional distance between the stage and the audience. With a capacity strictly limited to 300 seats, seats will be occupied strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, allowing the acoustics and the weight of centuries of family heritage to merge into an unrepeatable musical experience.

To preserve the intimacy of this historic home and ensure the conservation of its heritage, the evening will unfold exclusively within the magic of the courtyard (patio de armas). Access to the interior spaces and private residences of the castle is not part of the festival's itinerary, and we thank you in advance for your understanding and respect for this centuries-old venue.
